Shreveport Community Church Town Hall Meeting (District F)
May 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Recap of Town Hall #1:
- Trade schools-Kids need an opportunity.
Solution: BP Energy is partnering and will fund 14 schools to train into the robotic future. This will assist in the City operating on a global scale to bring revenue to Shreveport.
- Street Lights
Solution: build an App to identify lights that are out. This is Customer Service! The government needs to make it easier for us to report outages. We need confidence in accountability to make sure jobs are being completed.
- Water bill issues
Solution: ensuring customer service; a Mobile App can be developed again to allow pictures of the water meter. This will allow tracking of water usage to confirm usage reported is correct.
- Teacher encouragement
Solution: a search engine can be built online with resources and information as to how to become a teacher. (caddoconnect.org)
- to combat the number of murders, it starts in the Police Department. There is currently no relief. There is no crime deterrent as police force is underpaid and overworked.
Solution: Start asking officers what they need.
- Failed policies with repeat offenders-chaos ensues when systems fail. The threat from society is still there.
THE MAGIC IS IN THE PEOPLE. WE ARE IN CHARGE OF ALL THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE. There needs to be a crime deterrent in place.
Notify and educate the public about Crime Stoppers and how to report an anonymous tip.
Teach, “if you see something, say something.”
- Children jailed are losing their education
Solution: bring Ipads to CCC with programs to educate while in jail
Solution: We all have time or treasure, or both! As people of God, we should focus on mentorships. Find businesses to mentor schools to show kids what Father, Mother, and home life should be like.
- Homeless community purpose.
Solution: Utilize connexes (recycled shipping containers) to provide much needed housing to homeless families. Plan to grow their skills in gardening, cooking, etc.
